SLAM: Safety Leader and Manager

The CraftMasters Academy SLAM Training Program covers a comprehensive range of topics designed to enhance safety and health management in construction for Supervisors.

Upon completion, participants will receive the OSHA 30-Hour card, the NCCER Construction Site Safety Supervisor (CSSS) designation, and preparation for the Construction Health and Safety Technologist (CHST) exam.

This comprehensive training ensures participants are well-equipped to manage safety and health in construction environments.

Safety Leadership for Supervisors aims to develop leadership skills and promote a safety culture. 

Starting with an Introduction to OSHA & Legal Responsibilities, participants will understand OSHA's history, key standards, and legal responsibilities.

Managing Safety & Health in Construction focuses on identifying hazards and implementing safety management systems. Incident Investigation teaches the steps for conducting investigations and developing corrective actions. Safety Communication emphasizes effective communication techniques for delivering safety messages.

Emergency Preparedness Plan & Response covers the development of emergency plans and response procedures. Health Hazard Mitigation addresses common workplace health hazards and mitigation techniques. Fit for Duty focuses on assessing and managing fitness for duty. 

The ABC STEP Safety Management System session explains the 26-Key components to self-evaluate your organization and implementation of the system. Key Performance Indicators teaches how to measure and improve safety performance.

The Personal Protective Equipment training covers the selection, use, and maintenance of PPE. Fall Hazards in Construction addresses fall prevention and protection systems. Excavation Hazards and Soil Mechanics focuses on safe excavation practices and soil mechanics. 

Caught in Between and Struck by Hazards Mitigation teaches hazard recognition and prevention techniques. Electrical Safety in Construction covers electrical hazard prevention.

Crane Hazards in Construction addresses safe practices to work around cranes and basic operation. **Rigging and Signal-Person Training covers safe rigging practices and effective signaling. Powered Industrial Trucks Safety focuses on safe operation and maintenance of forklifts including rough terrain. Fire Prevention teaches techniques for preventing workplace fires. Scaffold Hazards in Construction covers safe scaffold erection and use.

Ladders Safety focuses on safe ladder use and inspections. Concrete and Masonry Safety addresses hazards and safe practices in concrete and masonry work. Hand and Power Tool Safety covers safe tool use and maintenance. Confined Space in Construction focuses on safe entry and work in confined spaces. Traffic Control teaches principles and techniques for managing traffic control in construction zones.
